DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR MEDICINE

Mission

The mission of the Department of Molecular Medicine is to discover, apply and disseminate knowledge of the basis of health and disease and further translate it with innovative tools for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

Introduction of the Program

The field of Molecular Medicine is often referred to as “tomorrow’s medicine”.  It is a newly emerging and most sought field in medicine globally with a focus on the description of diseases at molecular and genetic level with marked changes in the diagnostic modalities.

Molecular Medicine is an interdepartmental, multidisciplinary training program fostering the development of scientists and educators who are prepared for lifelong participation in research and other intellectual pursuits. With an emphasis on bridging basic and translational science, Molecular Medicine students would receive advanced training in the theory and practice of biomedical science.

Ziauddin University has already taken the prestigious lead among medical universities in Pakistan to introduce this program for the training of young scientists (clinical and non-clinical), who are keen to pursue careers in basic medical research. This program is designed to provide candidates with a science and medical background with a sound understanding of the molecular mechanisms of diseases at par with international standards. The well-designed program covers the fields of Molecular Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, Pathophysiology, Molecular Oncology, Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cells Therapy, Molecular Pharmacology and Bioinformatics.  Our goal is to foster teaching and research activities in the study of human diseases with the application of cutting-edge molecular and cell biology techniques.
